His Style vs. Mine :: Functionality Trumps

We are starting to get settled into our new abode. But I have a lot of creative storage ideas that need to happen. We are a family of 4 living in a space for 2. And we're renting. Here are some ideas I am playing with. Some of these have already been incorporated, others will need to be modified to work for our space. The concepts will work I think. Hope you look forward to some posts about our transition and my super mad skills for making these ideas work in a rental.

We have already added the pot rack and knife strip to the kitchen. We also added a rack for utensils. I love the look!

This is essential for us. Right now, we don't have a bed. We owned a Cali-King but had to sell because it wouldn't fit in the room. We are currently sleeping in an a Queen airbed.

With homeschooling, storage is always a struggle. I like this idea. It utilized wall space, which is a huge plus because floor space is pretty coveted in our home.

We also had to downsize our desk. We have a 24" imac and it basically takes up the entire surface of the desk. There's space on the side for out mouse pad and just enough space on the other side to place a notepad. Again, utilizing wall space is essential. I think this can easily be made. So that is my plan.

Arg, floor space, my arch nemesis. These would be great for extra seating for little ones. And they can store pretty easily since they are small-ish.

This, I think, would be perfect! It's comfy and mobile. I can put it anywhere, and it would certainly be more comfy for the larger version of a child bum. Plus, it has that modern touch that the hubby likes. Me. Not so much, but I am finding that I have to sacrifice alot of my style for functionality in this new place. Hopefully, I can find a way to mesh my style with his and have something super functional and even cuter!

As you can see, I will be very. Now, if all this rain would go away I could get some work done. Until then, I will just have to have fun shopping for the items I need. :)

Some of Our Favorites

We are a bunch of books worms over here. We could live at the library {if they had a shower... and a kitchen... and would let us}. We spend many hours a week there, reading, playing, getting school work done.

I wanted to share some of our favorite books with you. These books are so much fun, especially if you read with voices and sound effects!

This book is so much fun and my daughter asks me to read it a million times in one day. I think it helps that I read it with lots of voices and sounds effects. It makes it much more fun!

Again, great, especially with sound effects. This book is so fun. We love to see what will happen next in their adventure to get to the beach.

The Mercy Watson series is fantastic! These are my personal favorites because I love reading Leroy Ninker's voice, such fun!

Of course, no library trip would be complete without bringing home a Fancy Nancy book. We have read them all. Several times.

Another super cute book. this one is good for little boys as well because her best friend friend is Bumble Bee boy. too cute!

These books are great. It's a very fun way for children to learn these points in history. These stories are told with you being the main character. My son (8) loves to read these. My daughter (4) loves to hear them and look at the bright colorful photos.

These are just a few of our favorites I can think of.

We are off to explore our new library today. We are all so excited.

When was the last time you utilized your local library?

Still in the process of unpacking, but it's all coming together quite nicely.

We have downsized to a Queen (from a Cali-King) and I no longer have use for my King set. I am selling this on Craigslist. If any of you out there would be interested in this I would happy to ship to you (you pay shipping of course). Just pay through paypal and it will be on it's merry way. *This set is a King size not a Cali-King*

I am still debating whether I will replace it in the Queen size, but I am also liking the idea of totally redoing my bedroom. Seriously folks, I NEED you to buy this, it's for a worthy cause! Just One Dollar and It's Yours, FREE!

I am up to my eyebrows in boxes and can't find the computer, craft supplies, or my sanity.

I will be unpacking for what feel like the rest of my life, hopefully, I can get it done sooner than that. I am unsure of my return but wanted to share this great photo with you all. I got a chuckle out of it. Enjoy!
