1st Beadboard Project

I love beadboard! I want it all over my house! Well, all over in a pretty way. But since I am renting I cannot/willnot add it to the house. I can however, decorate with it.

I made this easy-to-make frame using beadboard, wood trim, some faux vintage keyplates and knobs.

Of course I had to paint it with my fav! Heirloom White. The trim is black. I used a walnut glaze to go over the keyplates to give is a vintage look. This frame was created as a copycat of something I saw in some magazine...wish I could remember. {If you know, please share and I will mention it}

I just love how it turned out!

I can now enjoy some beadboard, however minimal it may be.

My other recent love?

Isn't she just so pretty! I've worn her pretty much every day this past week and got a ton of compliments every time!

I need to make more!!!

What about you? Any new recent loves?

Burlap Finally::Hair Bow Holder

Yes, I know EVERYONE and their mother is doing the "burlap" thing. I have wanted too very badly for quite some time but haven't had the inspiration, or the burlap. Not having burlap makes it rather difficult to make a burlap craft.

I was at Wally World the other day and saw that they had a bolt of the ever popular stuff and thought, ok, I will get a little bit and try something with it. {I had no project in mind at the time of purchase}. About a week later I was at thrift store looking for a piece of furniture when when my super thrifty eagle eye spotted this frame!

{Just look at that detail! I have been hunting for a frame like this for about a year now. My thrift stores never seem to have any. While other lucky ladies have these overflowing out of their ears!}

So I brought this lovely lady home and boy did she need to be cleaned! I'm talking YEARS of grime and filth. She was a little more than I would have liked to pay for her, but since finding her made me see stars, I probably would have paid three times the original amount!

So once she was all cleaned and shined and ready for her make over, I had to go to the store and get paint. Because is still in a box somewhere and I am too impatient to try to dig it out. And, I knew I would use the color over and over again, because it's my favorite.

First I painted her Heirloom White and while she was still tacky (haha) I painted over it with the Robin's Egg Blue. I LOVE the effect!
{The above photo was not edited, it just looks weird all on it's own}

Originally I thought I would just distress it but this turned better than I had planned. So it stayed like this. While painting I was still trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Then I thought how cute burlap would look in place of the glass. Then, I thought how cute it would look with ribbon and hair bows! So I made a Burlap Ornate Framed Hair Bow Holder. Try saying that 5x fast.

Now, prepare for a lot of photos. A lot.

FYI, burlap is messy. But it makes a great coating to prevent burning your fingerprints off with hot glue.

So that is my first burlap project. Can I just tell you, I wish I had purchased about 10 yards of this stuff. I am in lurve!

Can't wait to do another project with it.
