I am declaring Mondays as "picture quiz" day here on Our Daily Chocolate. Very simple rules- view the photo, leave a comment with your guess. I will then anounce the correct answer the following Monday. I would like to start giving away fun little prizes for the 1st person to guess the correct answer. Given that information, these photos will not be easy. :)

In Celebration
Of the 1st day of summer, C and I made a "real" Pirate's map. Then we spent the entire afternoon looking for booty and deciding who would be the Captain-"Aarg!" Would it be Captain C? "Ahoy Matey". Captain A? "Arrr". Or Captain Mommy-no wait-mommy had to be the "enemy". "Avast there ye old seadog". We had such a wonderful time (though I never did get a chance to wear the Pirate hat).
So, I sure hope that fun for you. I know it was for us!! :) Let me know how you do on your maps and send me some photos. I would LOVE to see you creations ye lundlubbers.
I thought I would throw in a tutorial here for those interested in having their own Treasure hunting adventure. Avast Ye! (pay attention)
1st we start off with the the right items:
Construction paper
Paper Towels
(already brewed) coffee
Large Bowl
Felt tip pens/Markers
Then, Crumple into a very tight ball -this helps with getting as many creases as that is what will really hold the stain
Now, carefully open the paper so that there are no folds. At this point you should have a large bowl filled with the coffee (make sure the coffee is not cold-I like mine fresh and HOT) PLEASE, be careful if using hot coffee-this will burn you. Use tongs to dip the paper in-no flesh. :)
I let mine set about 7-10 minutes. Now, here is the tricky part. The paper is wet, which will tear very easily. I drained the water out of the bowl leaving the paper. I then used my blow dryer to get the edges dry and the center dry enough that I could move the whole paper to a flat surface without tearing it in half. (as you will see-tears happen either way).
See, but the important thing is that it's not torn completely in half. :) This is now completely dry and I can then draw my map. Get a creative as you like, or just copy mine (Shhh...mine was copied too-with a few minor changes) :-)

Captain C "Gentleman of Fortune" ready to set sail!

Summer Cherries
Are so yummy! Cherries just have a way of welcoming summer into our lives. Plus, I found this adorable measuring cup bowl for $.25 at a yard sale a few weeks ago. My cherries look right at home in there.

New Look
My new look for the summer. I just hacked off 6.5 inches of hair last night. Here it is, tell me what you think. :)
Quoted
Christian: "I'll give you a hint! They are planning an attack on an alien invasion!"
Mommy: "???"
Christian: *giggle*
Mommy: "Oh! I know! Chicken Little!"
Christian: *laughs hysterically* "Good Job Mommy!"
I love when I get it right! :)

1st Swim
of the summer season! Oh my gosh it was SO hot this past weekend, temps up the high 90's, feeling like 110 degrees, with HIGH humidity!!! Christian had his baseball game at 10am. We got home around 12:30, finished up some projects around the house, then headed into the pool. We had a Wonderful cookout, compliments of my amazing hubby (he's the cook in the family). The children had a Great time swimming and splashing and Mommy had a great time watching everyone have a great time! Here are some photos of our very fun (and Blessed) Saturday afternoon. Enjoy!

Major Hiatus
It has been almost TWO MONTHS since my last post! Things have been VERY hectic here on the home front. My sister just arrived from California, so I am enjoying the new "babysitter" at the moment. :)
Yesterday the children were able to enjoy a nice quiet picnic in the front yard. They were so sweet just sitting there eating the sandwich's and picking wild strawberries-who could resist this photo op? And they actually LET me take the photos!!!
Just wanted to stop by and say "HI". And post a few pictures, of course!
These apples are just too cute. I purchased them at a yardsale for $1! :) That makes me happy!!

As you can tell, it was very HOT!!! and super muggy. But fun all the same. Hopefully there will be more days ahead that allow for fun picture taking. Till then, have a very Blessed Day!
